Dealing with Depression: How to Run Well

Recently I read a devotional about running the race well. Here are the point the pastor made:
  1. Stay in Shape - make sure that you are getting the necessary things to sustain you spiritually like prayer and daily helping of God's word.
  2. Obey the Rules - stay in the boundaries that you are given and embrace and submit to the rules.
  3. Run Light (Heb. 12:1) - Are there things/people that distract you? What sin or sins are slowing you down? Take them off and run light!
  4. Be willing to Persevere - James 1:2-4
  5. Keep your eyes on the finish line - Prov. 4:25 - Jesus is there at the end of the race waiting for us.

My prayer:
Father, help me to keep my focus on you so that I will run this race well. Father, cause me to find my delight in and desire Your word more than worthless things. Father, give me endurance and strength to continue in the presence of trials. Thank you for your promise to never leave us and never forsake us. Thank you for taking on the weight of those things that we need to lay aside so that we may run this race well. Be glorified, Father through my life and through my journey to know you more. In the sweet name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
