To Go or Not to Go is the Question

I had a conversation recently with a friend about going overseas to share with those who have never had an opportunity to hear about our Lord. Do we go or do we not? Are there thing that are keeping us from moving or are we just comfortable right where we are? What is holding us back? Selfishness? Insecurities?

Jonah tried to say no to God about going somewhere he was supposed to go. He ended up in a fish for awhile until he was eventually vomited (ugh) up onto the shore of the city he was called to go to in the first place. Why do we like Jonah say no to God? Do we say no because we don't know how to see the eternal purpose?

Moses tried to say no to God too. He told God that he was just not the man for the job. However, he tried to hide and stay away until he had a meeting with the I AM that changed his life forever and the history of the Hebrew children forever.

God doesn't care about us telling Him "no" or "not yet" or "can you just wait a little while". He will accomplish His purposes with or without us. If we say we love Him we need to understand what that means. "This is love, that we walk according to His commandments."(2 John 1:6) If we truly love Him, we will be obedient to what He wants us to do.

We need to rest in the fact that He will work all things together for us because we LOVE Him and are CALLED according to His purposes. (Romans 8:28)

Do you love and trust Him? Are you called by Him? Answer those questions and then just wait (there's that word again) for "He shall direct your paths." (Prov. 3:5-6)

Father, help me to trust you in all things. If you tell me to go, let my answer be "Here am I Lord, send me." Help me to trust that you will be with me until the end. Help me to know that even if I might suffer to go for you that the reward far out weighs the sacrifice. In Jesus name I pray, Amen!
